Help Keep Our Meets Running — Become a PPSL Official!

Every PPSL swim meet depends on certified officials to run smoothly, fairly, and safely. Without enough officials, meets can be delayed, canceled, or not scored — and no one wants that!

Officials are essential to:

  • Ensure races are judged fairly and consistently
  • Enforce league rules and protect the integrity of competition
  • Create a safe, organized environment for our swimmers

No experience? No problem! We provide simple training, and we'll walk you through everything you need to know.
Officiating is a front-row seat to the action and a direct way to support your swimmer and their teammates.

PPSL needs every team to step up!
Sign up today or contact your team rep or the PPSL Board to learn more. Let’s work together to make this season the best one yet!

NEW! Online Training now available.    Please send your completion screen print to your PPSL rep if you complete this training.

We managed to find a good option for online swimming officials training so we will be offering this in lieu of a second in person training.
  • The training is geared towards high school swimming so there are a few sections that do not apply such as the pre meet guidelines and the section on lap counting but the rest is great training.
  • You will need to create an account to access the training but it is free to do so and the training module is also free.
A couple of things to note:
  • Member teams pools will typically not have the 15m mark. For this we will use the opposite end backstroke flags. It is further than 15m but will suffice for our needs.
  • Mason WILL have the 15m marked so be sure your swimmers are aware for A finals. For freestyle events almost anything goes.
  • Swimmers may swim in any style on their front or back for freestyle events (this does not apply for IM or Medley relay events however).
  • They may touch the bottom, walls (in an end lane) or lane lanes provided they do not use any of these things to push forward.

The training can be accessed via the following link: Officiating Swimming and Diving Course The course will take between 1.5-2 hours to complete and trainees cannot skip forward. There are a few questions to answer during the course. Thank you for all you do to make sure the PPSL swim meets are consistent and fair for all swimmers!
